The anime will be adapted by Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski, who also worked on Are You Afraid of the Dark?, and will be animated by Science SARU.

The Original Cast Will Voice the Characters

The cast from Edgar Wright’s beloved 2010 cult film Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is reuniting for an anime series that will release on Netflix soon.

Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Kieran Culkin are the lead voice actors in this anime series. In addition, Satya Bhabha, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, Alison Pill, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, Johnny Simmons, Mark Webber, Stephen Stills, and Mae Whitman will be returning to voice their characters.

The upcoming anime is based on the popular Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley. It will be executive produced and written by O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski. It will be animated by award-winning animation studio Science SARU. It will also feature original music by Anamanaguchi, the band that provided the soundtrack for the Scott Pilgrim video game. It will be directed by Abel Gongora and will be released on Netflix.

The Series Will Be Adapted by Bryan Lee O’Malley

Scott Pilgrim, the slacker bass player from Bryan Lee O’Malley’s beloved comic series that was later adapted into Edgar Wright’s cult classic live-action movie in 2010, is set to get its own anime series on Netflix. It’s been confirmed that original series creator O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski will write and executive produce the anime.

The animated series will be directed by Abel Gongora and animated by Science SARU. They’ve already handled projects like Devilman Crybaby and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken.

This anime version will also feature a number of the characters from the original film. They include Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Scott and Ramona, respectively.

They’ll be joined by the other main characters from the graphic novels, including Envy and Gideon. They’ll be voiced by the original cast of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and a few others, including Kieran Culkin and Chris Evans and Brie Larson. In addition, chiptune band Anamanaguchi, who composed retro game-style music for the video game, will provide original songs.

It’s Getting Animated by Science SARU

Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers and their Seven Evil Exes are coming to Netflix in a new animated series. As previously reported, the project will feature a cast we all know and love, including Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the titular characters and all of the voice actors from the 2010 cult classic big-screen adaptation.

Anime studio Science SARU (Devilman Crybaby and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken) is handling the animation work. Moreover, the film’s original composers, Anamanaguchi, will return to provide original music for the series, as well.

While it doesn’t yet have a series order, it is set to launch this year on Netflix and UCP (the division of Universal Studios Group behind The Umbrella Academy and Chucky). O’Malley is attached as executive producer, along with BenDavid Grabinski of Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Edgar Wright, director of the 2010 film.

It’s Getting Adapted by Edgar Wright

Director Edgar Wright, Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley and Are You Afraid of the Dark writer BenDavid Grabinski are teaming up with Netflix to develop an anime series. The series will be adapted from O’Malley’s graphic novels and bring back the cast of the original 2010 movie to voice their characters.

The project will be animated by award-winning animation studio Science SARU (DEVILMAN crybaby, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!), with Eunyoung Choi serving as executive producer and Abel Gongora directing. The anime will also feature music from Anamanaguchi, a band that scored the soundtrack for the Scott Pilgrim video game.
