Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2: Release Date Leaks Ahead of Anime Japan 2023 Schedule
This season will adapt two of the manga's major arcs: The Hidden Inventory Premature Death Arc and the Shibuya Incident Arc, which is all about Gojo's past.
The second season of the popular anime Jujutsu Kaisen is set to begin airing in July 2023. The news was announced during a livestream of Jump Festa 2023 by Junya Enoki, Yuichi Nakamura, and Nobunaga Shimazaki, the voice actors for Satoru Gojo, Yuji Itadori, and Mahito.
The new season will adapt two arcs of the manga: Hidden Inventory Premature Death Arc and Shibuya Incident Arc. It will also feature a larger-scale battle between sorcerers and spirits.
Release Date Leaks
The first season of Jujutsu Kaisen aired in October 2020 and completed its 24-episode run in March 2021. The anime has been dubbed in English and streamed on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Netflix.
The second season will adapt the “Gojo’s Past Arc,” which runs from chapters 65-79 in the manga. The arc will be an extension of the Death Painting Arc, which was finished with the anime, and it will focus on Gojo and Geto’s time at Tokyo Jujutsu High.
It is not clear how long the second season will run for, but we expect it to last at least 20 episodes. Because it will be adapted from two different arcs, it should be longer than the first season.
MAPPA revealed the second season would debut on July 2023 during Jump Festa '23 and confirmed it will air in two cours (quarters of a year). The anime will also feature a new key visual, which was also revealed at the event.
Release Date Confirmed
The new season will release in July 2023 over two "cours" (Japanese broadcast seasons, three months each). It is expected to air for 24 episodes and will continue until the end of the year.
The new season will also introduce several supporting characters, including Ruji Amanai and Toji Fushiguro, who play a key role in the Hidden Inventory arc. It will be interesting to see how they fit in with the rest of the cast.
